I am trying to take more time for slow. It is hard for me, since I am naturally a go-go-go kind of gal. Every once in a while though, I find us embracing the slow and you know what? I love it. I love the calm and the quiet. I love the time to catch up on those messy dishes...gaw dishes never end right?
...but that's a whole other topic...
I love being able to slow down and catch those moments....
like when Libby and I finally tackled tie-dye...she'd only been asking for like weeks. It was a lot of fun to slow down and take a day to create with my not so little girl.
I love slowing down to capture memories of Hubby stretching out with Watson. These little moments bring a huge smile to my face. That ginger cat is definitely loved by all in our home. Even the big man, who swears he is NOT a cat lover. Shh...don't tell him I let it slip that he secretly is :)
I also love the time when we slow and I can make more yummy things at home. I love cooking and now that it is finally not stuck in the triple digits, I am finding that love for cooking again. Woot! Woot!
Fresh veggie stir fry has been a favorite of mine the past few weeks. Wash, chop, and saute your veggies. Add a bit of sweet and sour sauce and serve with rice. Quick and oh so yummy!
What are you guys doing to slow down?
XO Danielle
am finding that I too love the slow down days. I have set alarms on my phone to help me stick to a routine. I'm calling it purposeful days. There are so many days that I stop and look back on our day and realize, I have no idea what we did today. Or the fact that we accomplished nothing productive and I would just find myself standing in the kitchen staring of into space. But my personal regret it when my daughter wakes up in the morning and immediately asks where are we going today. I don't know whether to be proud or sad. But I truly thank you for who you are! You are so inspiring and I love following your posts!!
ReplyDeleteOh I absolutely love the idea of "purposeful days". What a neat idea!!!
DeleteI luv them too! we are going from 6am-9pm or later. school, snack, football practice, church or scouts. I miss the slow days so when I can get it I cherish it - I'm learning the word NO to others AND myself - like u I'm a gogo person. this year for school as been a doozy for us so its MAKING me say no more often but it's nice, and since I'm learning that word I'm starting to like it! lol!
ReplyDeleteHaha it is so true! The more you start to use it, the more you want to! I totally feel the same:)
