My Love Story: Amy's Story

 We all have one. A story that tells how we  began our happily ever after. Our story may have twist, turns, laughs, tears, and all the in between, but they are ours. I have asked a few bloggers and readers to share their stories.

 Here are their words....their love stories.

Hi y'all, I'm Amy and I blog over at The Little Farm Diary. My husband and I are hugely blessed to be so head over heels in love after twenty four years of marriage, so when Danielle asked that I share a little about our love story, I was just tickled pink. Our love story wasn't always so rosy- God brought us together as part of His bigger plan- there were many mighty hard years in the beginning......... and middle.......... and for what seemed like e-v-e-r. Years that were both beautiful and hard.

When I met my soon-to-be husband, I fell immediately in love with him because he was head over heels in love with me. That's all us girls are looking for, right? Someone that wants to hold us tight and protect us from the world. That's exactly who my husband is and I felt safe and loved from the moment we met. But you know what? It wasn't picture perfect. He was an alcoholic. He didn't even know it, like so many folks that drink, they are so sure that they are in control. And I, well let's just say that I was a financial disaster in the making way back then. I thought more was everything and bigger was better, oh boy........

So fast forward many years later, many arguments later, many disappointments later, many ups and downs later, four awesome kids later, and here we are, better than ever. Why? It's all God, that's why. Our God is a God of underdogs and mess-ups. The bigger the mess up the better the testimony. Can I get an Amen! Our God is a God that could have chosen a royal palace and a king and queen to raise His one and only Son, but He didn't. Our God is a God that chose Abram to be the father of His people. Abram who didn't come from a line of God fearing believers but from a line of pagans. Say what? That's our God, that's my God.

Nine years ago, God began to work on and inside of my husband. It was a slow and at times painful process to watch. Two years later, and lots of hard work on my husband's part, God performed the miraculous and healed my husband completely and he became a new man in Christ. Those two years were rough let me tell you. There was obvious warfare taking place inside of my husband. And me, God was working on me too. Once my husband was a new man and took his rightful place as the head of our family, I began to change too. During the time that God was working on my husband he was also preparing me to prosper in a simpler life. Once I realized what real wealth looked like, I really began to bloom in my new life, shoot, I'm still blossoming y'all. Real wealth has nothing to do with money, but it has everything to do with peace and gratitude and a feeling of well being, health in body and mind. Those are gifts from God through grace. 

Your life right now may look like mine did, or it may be another kind of  mess altogether, but I'm here to tell you to never stop praying and never give up on yourself or your man. My husband is such an awesome husband and leader and I'm so grateful to be able to share my life with him every day. No matter how ugly your life or marriage may look at this very moment, never forget that our God is a God of mess-ups, He's a healer of people and marriages and just because yours may not look like you want it to right now, it can.
