Yesterday I realized I had some deli meat that needed to be used, so last night for dinner I tried out a new crock-pot recipe...Root Beer Ham Sliders. It was simple to throw together in the morning and by 5 o'clock, dinner was ready to go. I served it on homemade rolls with bake beans and fruit. It was a scrumptious dinner, which pleased the whole family.
Root Beer Ham Sandwiches
1 lb deli sliced ham
2 cans of root beer
1/4 cup dried onions (regular onions would work)
2 tbl brown sugar
Place
all ingredients into the crock-pot and cook on low for 6
hours. Serve on homemade rolls or store bought rolls and enjoy!
We like to serve our root beer ham sandwiches with baked beans and fruit.
*To save money when buying your lunch meat, look for sales and stock up. Deli meat freezes great!
*I buy #10 cans of minced dried onions from the lds cannery for under $7 a can. These are a great addition to food storage and help when I am all out of fresh onions. There storage life is also 30 years!

that looks delish! I got some ham that I sliced from a big ham I cooked I bet it would work the same. it's a lot thicker than deli meat slice - what do u think? I luv our LDS cannery!
ReplyDeleteoh absolutely! They would taste delish!
DeleteThat sounds good. When I make ham I usually put ginger ale in with it instead of water, but I never thought to try out another type of soda. We like root beer so this sounds like it is right up our alley. :) Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteWhen I buy lunch meats I ask the deli counter for the lunch meat ends- you wouldn't believe how much is left at the end of the roll after they are done slicing it up for the deli case. They usually have several to choose from and do not mind at all if I ask them to slice it up for me. It looks and tastes exactly the same as what you see and get in the pre-sliced deli case. They even discount the price since it is the ends of the rolls- I've never paid more than $1.78/lb for anything- ham, turkey, roast beef, cheeses (American, provolone, muenster) etc.
That's a great idea!!!!!!
DeleteAnd for whatever reason it seems much heartier than a regular ham sandwich. What a neat spin on plain sandwich meat! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteCan I ask a silly question-- is the LDS Family Home Storage store just for LDS families? Or can "outsiders" submit orders, too? Thank you in advance-- I LOVE your site!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat's not a silly question at all:) The LDS cannery is for anyone. You can go there and can food yourself or buy #10 cans already filled. Call your local site to find out the hours. The workers there are all fantastically sweet:)
