I wrote this tonight in a tired state. Excuse me for whatever typos, errors, etc.
It came from the heart. No editing required.
I think it is in these moments that it is easy to let the adversary in. To allow those negative thoughts of "I am not doing enough for my children" or "If only I did this a little better, I would be a better Mom" to crept in. These negative moments are something I know I battle with often and maybe you do too.
When this happens I try to remember the sweet words of Jeffery R. Holland "The work of a mother is hard, too often unheralded work. Please know that it is worth it then, now, and forever". To have the reminder that even though my days may be long and tiresome, they are worth it. Sometimes I need that reminder to know that I am not alone in this Motherhood thing. I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and is with me every step of the way. It is in these moments that I am reminded that I need to turn to Him more than ever. I am aiding Him in bringing forth the next generation. It has been said to "Be The Change You Want To See In The World". I think this goes for our children. We have to teach them, because they are the future. Their ideals and thoughts could change the world one day. That is a big deal and one I don't want to take too lightly. Because of this, I need to remember that I can't do it alone. I have been blessed with two reads heads, who push me to my sanity limits, but also melt my heart with just one "I love You". Somehow they know exactly when I need to hear it.....Like just now, while typing my little Miss called he into her room. I begrudgingly went in, wanting more than ever for her to just go to sleep..... I mean it is her bed time.....but what I was greeted with was a little voice telling me they just wanted to give me one last hug. It was in that moment that I forgot all the mommy comparisons I do every day, I forgot about the "Super Mommy Pedestal" I attain to be on, all that is important is the here and now with our children. Today I want to remind myself to be of "good faith and of good cheer". I am thankful I am a Mom. I am thankful for all those other Moms, who are raising amazing young ladies and gents. Thank you for your amazing effort and love.
I want to leave you with one of my favorite quotes...
"Mothers, cherish that role that is so uniquely yours and for which heaven itself sends angels to watch over you and your little ones. Yours is the work of salvation, and therefore you will be magnified, compensated, made more than you are, better than you are, and better than you have ever been. And if, for whatever reason, you are making this courageous effort alone, without your husband at your side, then our prayers will be all the greater for you. Know that in faith things will be made right in spite of you, or more correctly, because of you. We thank all of you, and tell you there is nothing more important in this world than participating so directly in the work and glory of God. "
-Jefferey R. Holland
Know today that you are amazing and that your littles are so blessed to have you as their mother.

What prompted you to homeschool your children as opposed to sending them to school?
ReplyDeleteWe started doing preschool at home and I loved it so much we decided to keep going. It has been amazing for my children. I homeschool them each for different reasons, but it has been an amazing blessing to them and to me.
DeleteI'm commenting for the first time on your lovely blog, but I so needed to hear your words of encouragement tonight! It's been an exhausting day with school struggles, peer pressure, and liquid candle wax being dumped down the kitchen sink to, (ironically) cause me to finally melt down - and then apologize for being slow to anger. Thank you for your inspiration, always.
ReplyDeleteChrista
Oh my Christa! You definitely had quite a day. Hope the sink situation gets better. Thank you for your sweet comment :>
DeleteThank you! Just what I needed to hear. I feel like you read my mind and answered every thought and frustration I have had the last few weeks mothering my children, trying to be good enough, when my husband is out of state for work.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly what I needed tonight. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great and much needed post I love the quote. I have two boys ages 4 and 2, and have had many of these days. Being a mother can feel so natural and so intimidating all in the same day. It is also wonderful to read of a mother whose strength is backed by God and who is teaching that to her children. That is a quality I treasure in other women, thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI needed to hear this! I have been on this bummed, gloomy kick for quite awhile. Stressing and feeling totally overwhelmed. My son is going through those darn terrible two's. Anyways thanks (: made me smile!
ReplyDeleteOh man Terrible Two's I hear ya Sista!
DeleteThank you lovelies for your sweet words. It is amazing what a little prompting does. I wasn't sure about sharing, but I am so glad I did. I am glad I was not the only one that needed a little Mommy pick me up today. Love all you gals!
ReplyDeleteI loved your post and the linked article! Thanks so much for opening up and sharing! I've felt the same way a lot lately too, it is nice to be reminded that we aren't in this "motherhood thing" alone. We have Heavenly Father, Christ... and each other! So thanks again for the mommy-pick-me-up I needed!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED your post and the post you linked too! I've been feeling the same way a lot lately! It was exactly what I needed, to be reminded that we aren't in this "motherhood thing" alone: we have Heavenly Father, Jesus... and each other! Thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not technically a mommy yet...of my OWN children, but my husband and I are raising my little sister who is now eleven. I feel those things too, though I don't homeschool her. I just wanted to share something with you about the faithfulness of God. I am currently receiving two blogs in my email right now and today I read both of them, yours and this one:http://www.gracelaced.com/2013/05/02/the-marathon-of-motherhood-and-why-i-get-tripped-up/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+Gracelaced+%28GraceLaced%29
ReplyDeleteIs not God trying to say something to me about my priorities, motivations, pride, and perfectionism?
Thanks for sharing...this was just a little confirmation that God knows what I need day to day and that you were part of His plan for me today!
Samantha
Just wanted to say that I'm sending prayers your way....what you do is the most important job in the whole world and you're a rockstar! Never think you aren't doing the best! You're an inspiration, and we all love you! God bless!
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to say that I'm sending prayers your way! You're a rockstar. Never think you aren't doing the best possible things for your little ones. You're an inspiration! We love you! God bless <3
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Kate! You are so freakin sweet. Thank you so much for your sweet, kind words. They made my day!
DeleteIt's so great to see a post from the heart. Thanks for sharing, Danielle!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely:>
DeleteOh, how I needed to hear this today! Why do we always tend to be hardest on ourselves?! I truly believe that when we question how we are doing, we are probably doing just fine! :) I suspicion that is the case with you, too! You are an incredible Mama!
ReplyDeleteEven with all the great days, there are bound to be some challenges along the way. And when I feel I can't cope with one more temper tantrum or early wake-up call, sending up a little prayer for grace always seems to help.
I love your blog, and check in daily for a little dose of happy. I have already learned so much from you! Thank you for all you do! ;)
Thank you so much Lindsey. I really appreciate your kind words. They just made my day:>
DeleteWe don't have any childrean just furry twin Doxies, but from being an Aunt of a lot of little ones I can really appreciate this post. I understand from my sisters-in-law how hard the job is andhow tired one can get.
ReplyDeleteCynthia
Danielle,
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post, though I don't have little ones I have teens and one young adult(21,19,18 and 16). I have been feeling very inadequate lately. My husband lost his job here and is currently in Boston working. I am in Alabama with our children. Without going into great detail we can't afford to move at the moment and I'm having issues about leaving my older children behind. Everything happened so suddenly with his job. It is very hard to try to be Momma and Daddy at the same time. Anyway you touched my heart and I wanted to say thank you for all you do in these tough economic times. I enjoy reading your blog. Julie

ReplyDeleteI needed to read that. I'm tired today.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya! I hope your day gets better:>
DeleteThanks so much for that post! Just last night I was telling my hubby how inadequate I feel as a mom, my little guy is 6 months old. :) It's exhausting and tiring and you wonder if you are doing the right thing so often. It's also rewarding but I hear ya! I love your blog and use so many of your money saving tips! Have an awesome day!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, the timing of reading this post is unbelievable. I am one of those doing it alone and have been feeling quite exhausted lately. My 2 1/2 year old son is my miracle from God but there are some days where I just take that for granted due to the busyness and tiredness of it all. I needed to be reminded that I'm not doing this alone. My loving God is right here with me, sustaining me each day. Thank you for being real with us.
ReplyDeleteMoms are god-sent angels and nobody can be better than them. You are doing good... just hang on!
ReplyDeleteAll the best.
