Recently Miss Priss decided she wanted to learn to braid. She has been seeing me braid my hair and hers for quite a long time now and she was very eager to learn. I wasn't sure how to go about teaching her, since she is only 6. I remembered that I learned on Barbies, so I thought this was the way to go. It turned out to be pretty tricky to get, but then we checked out some Fancy Nancy Books from the library. In Fancy Nancy: Ooh La La! It's Beauty Day
She is pretty darn talented. I included our 3 simple tips to braiding, so you can teach your little one as well.
She is a braiding queen. I am thankful for all the little moments I get with my kids. They are too fun! I hope you get to have some fun with your littles today.
Here are some more of our favorite Fancy Nancy Books.
We love to get these from the libraries and have been slowly adding some to our children's library at home.
Have a good one Lovelies!
XO Danielle
This is just what I needed, my little one has been wanting to learn this for some time now, we even bought her a big barbie head to practice on but she finds it too hard. Love the ribbon idea, trying it out later today! Thanks x
ReplyDeleteAny tips for MOM wanting to learn how to FRENCH braid???
ReplyDeleteYou Tube has some great tutorial videos. I also checked out a book about a bunch of different kinds of braids.
DeleteYouTube has several tutorial videos. You might try a braid book too. If you can braid a single ponytail you can do it. Start with the front and sides and braid two times. As you braid each side add a thumb width to you strand until you finish the braid all way down the head. Don't worry about it being tight. You'll get better with practice. Hope that helps.
DeleteI was raised by a single Dad, and having 2 brother, all the males in the family had to learn how to braid. LOVE this article, it brings back many great memories for me...
