I am a big fan...no a HUGE fan of honey-mustard dressing. My kids love it, I love, it is seriously a fan favorite in this household. We are pretty partial. Can you tell? This year we ran into a problem, when we decided to cut high-fructose corn syrup out of our diet. One of the first ingredients, in most store bought honey-mustard dressings, is high-fructose corn-syrup. Seriously! I was pretty steamed.
I started browsing through my cookbooks. I wanted a salad and only Honey-mustard dressing would do. Thankfully Erin Chase, from The $5 Dinner Mom Cookbook
It is super quick to whip up. Add your ingredients, shake together, and top your favorite salad. We added tomatoes, cucumbers, and crunchy red peppers to our salads this week. Yum!
Here is the recipe for all you lovelies to try out....
Honey-Mustard Dressing
1 tsp vinegar
1/4 cup yellow mustard
1/2 cup honey
salt and pepper
In a small jar or bottle, shake the
vinegar, mustard, honey, salt, and pepper. Shake vigorously until
contents is combined. Store in the fridge. I store mine in a mason
jar with a label.
*Add 1 tbl of milk for creamier
dressing.
I did and it is SO.GOOD!
XO Danielle

ReplyDeleteThanks A:>
DeleteYummy! I love homemade dressings.... I was thinking from the recipe it might be really thick... but on your salad it looks great! How long do you think it will last in the fridge with the milk?
ReplyDeleteI would think a few weeks. We just finished our mason jar and it lasted about three weeks.
DeleteOh now this post? Is awesome!!! My husband LOVES honey mustard... He's been eating his salads with just some olive oil and parmesan cheese because his acid reflux forbids him to have store bought dressings that are loaded with vinegar but I think THIS recipe he will be able to tolerate. Thank you SO much for posting this!
ReplyDeleteYou are so welcome Robyn. I hope he likes it:>
DeleteI am addicted to honey mustard! I eat it daily. But the high fructose corn syrup does bother me.... I will definitely have to try this!! Thanks for the recipe!

That is why we had to go homemade. My son and I love honey mustard but I couldn't bring myself to ignore the HFC fact anymore. Dang fructose
DeleteI'm going to try this! How long will it last, you think?
ReplyDeleteI would think 2-3 weeks in your fridge. That is about how long ours lasted.
DeleteI just made this! SO good!!! Ive been dipping pretzels in it!
ReplyDeletejust made a small scale version of this to test & to put on the most delicious sandwich of my whole life. Definitely going to have to make a whole jar full now, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI tried this honey mustard today and its great! I served it with baked breaded chicken and both my 3 year old and I were wishing there was more chicken to dip! I only made half batch but I added the items to my grocery list so I can be sure to make for chef salads next week.
ReplyDeleteI just made a half batch of this honey mustard for lunch. My son is 3, he helped measure and wisk all the ingredients and then he chowed down on some breaded baked chicken dipped in his own honey mustard. I will def make the full batch next week for chef salad. Thanks for sharing,
ReplyDeleteHow much salt and pepper does it call for?
