{Getting to Know You} ChiWei From One Dog Woof

 

Hi Blissful and Domestic readers, and Happy New Year!  I'm ChiWei from One Dog Woof and I'd like to thank Danielle for giving me this opportunity to introduce myself to you today!  

I just started my blog at One Dog Woof at the end of November, so this whole blogging world is very new and exciting to me.  I've always liked all sorts of hands-on, creative things and wanted a way to document and talk about my projects, whether they are successes or failures.  

The other big reason for my starting a blog was to encourage myself to keep pursuing my hobbies and things that make me ...ME.   After getting married, and getting a dog, and having a baby, sometimes I found it hard to remember who I was before all these big changes in my life, and that's no good for anyone! (read as: I took out my frustrations on Drew.)  

Today, I am Drew's wife, Joshua's mother, and a member of Isabel's pack.  

We live in upstate New York, and I guess the definition of "upstate New York" will be left as an exercise for the reader.

Most of the inspiration for what I do comes from the fact that if I see something I like, I'd rather make it myself than buy it, especially if I can make it from things I have around the house.  I guess that's the definition of upcycling, but to me, it just means less unused clutter in my basement!  Here are some examples:

Re-painted old frames and some homemade art.

Hand-me-down ornament given new life..with paint.

Redecorated an existing wreath, and made a Christmas card holder from Josh's wooden trains.

I came, I saw, I made my own?

Who doesn't love Pinterest for homemade gift ideas!

I'll leave you with some other fun facts about me:

1. I love ramen and most all asian foods, and I truly believe that there's not much that a little soy sauce can't fix!  
2. I read the 6th Harry Potter book in one sitting.  I've also watched the 3 original Star Wars movies in one sitting, possibly with Space Balls at the end, but I may have passed out.
3. I used to dance ballroom competitively in college...not so much these days.
4. Drew hates this about me, but I can't stand not knowing how a book or movie ends.  Every once in a while, I like to sneak a peek at wikipedia to read a summary, just so I can read/watch the rest of the book/movie in peace. 

My resolution this year is to get out and make some new friends, and so far, blogging has been a great way to meet people, so if you have some time, come by One Dog Woof and say hi!  I'd love to get to know you!
