*Homemade BBQ Sauce
This is a great substitute for store bought sauce.
1 onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons butter
1 can tomato sauce (8 oz.)
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup honey
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tsp dry mustard
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp chili powder
1 tablespoon cidre vinegar
1 tablespoon water
Sauté
onion in butter until soft. Add remaining ingredients and stir to
thoroughly combine. Let simmer over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring
occasionally.
Oooh, that sounds delicious! I'll definitely be trying that one soon!
ReplyDeleteI recently saw a recipe for taco joes that I want to try soon. Basically, it's sloppy joes, but with taco seasoning added to it.
Use ground turkey, so much better for you. I switched from ground beef to turkey many years ago and my kids are healthier for it. We still use beef like steaks and Carne Asada, but when I can substitute turkey I do. Turkey tacos and burritos are my kids favorite!
ReplyDeleteThat looks yummy :)

thanks
I cannot do the ground turkey-thing. I'd much rather just find hamburger with a low fat percentage. I've tried substituting with ground turkey and my kids never like it the same.
ReplyDeleteThis recipe sounds great - thanks for sharing :)

ReplyDeleteHow do you preserve your BBQ sauce? How long does it last? callmeantigone@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI store it in my fridge for about two weeks. It is usually used up by then. I store it in a glass mason jar.
