Homeschool: Making Homemade Scented Playdough

Here is a Play Dough recipe I used this week from The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood: Over 1200 Easy Activities to Support Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles. I was surprised at how simple and easy it was. The kids did all the work. I just did the stove top part. It took less then 10 minutes to do the whole thing. And while the play dough was cooling we just went onto our other subjects. Once we were finished we were able to end our school day with some Play dough fun. Hope you guys are able to try out this simple and fun activity with your littles this week :>

-->
Play Dough

3 cups flour
1 ½ cups salt
3 tbl oil (I used canola oil)
2 tbl cream of tartar
3 cups of water

Combine all ingredients. Cook over low heat until mixture is no longer sticky to the touch. Add food coloring to make colored dough.
* For scented dough add 1 tsp of scented extract (mint, vanilla, lemon, etc). You can also use massage oils as well.

As you can tell I took this after we had made the play dough. I promise I always have a clean counter when I cook :>

And here is just another picture of the kids working this today:
