This is a simple delicious recipe I wanted to share. Here is what you do:
Place 3 chicken breast in the crock pot with 1 envelope of tacos seasoning and enough water to cover chicken. I added a can of black beans as well (drained). Cook on low for 6 hours. Serve with refried beans, corn, and your choice of taco toppings. My family loves this meal. We have it at least once a week. Hope you are able to try it out. You won't be sorry :> Have a wonderful day!

This is one of our favorite meals also but I wanted to share with you that a friend taught me how to can our own chicken. We buy the big Sam's Club box of Chicken Breast for $60 for almost 40lbs. and then can it. No precooking required and it keeps for a really long time with no refrigeration. We've been doing it for years and I love that, in a pinch, I can do Chicken Taco's in 15 minutes for our family of 7!
ReplyDeleteThanks for all you've shared! I'm gleaning lots of great ideas!
how do can your own chicken? Sounds like a real money saver without the freezer burn.

Please share how you can your own chicken. My freezer burns EVERYTHING
DeleteDo you use frozen or thawed chicken breast for this recipe?
ReplyDeleteYou can do both. I usually just take my chicken straight from the freezer
DeleteDo you cook the black beans with the chicken?
ReplyDeleteI did and it turned out great!
DeleteThat is so great!
DeleteWe had this for dinner last night. It was so delicious! I am usually a ground beef person for tacos but the chicken turned out absolutely amazing! I am making your sweet potato black bean soup tonight! Great blog and recipes!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much:>

ReplyDeleteHello. I am just wondering if you shred the chicken when it's done cooking?...I am assuming that you do, just making sure! Thank you!! Can't wait to try this.
ReplyDeleteYes I do:)
DeleteWe make our own taco seasoning mix, and also make the tortilla shells. The shells are surprisingly simple to make, and my kids love them. Its just flour, water and olive oil, and then you roll them up and heat in a fry pan. A great way to save even more money!
