As you know, to make Halloween a little bit more fun, I always do our Halloween countdown with my littles. Each day we do something fun. We could be making a treat, doing a craft, or playing a game. The only requirement is that we do it together and hopefully we all have fun as a family.
We mark each activity off our list and pull a link off our countdown chain.
This is a great way to get them excited about the upcoming holiday.
One craft we did this week, which was on our list, was making paper plate pumpkins. These were so simple and oh so fun to make. Remember I love anything Halloweeny with glitter, so this is a craft that is straight up my alley.
I purchased a pack of small orange paper plates at Target for .75 cents. Clearance. SCORE! I already had the Emler's glue and gold glitter.
I had my littles practice drawing faces on the pumpkins with the glue.
Miss Priss was more into scribbles, while my Bubba got into making the faces.
They drew their faces with glue and then sprinkled gold glitter over the glue.
Don't be scared to do glitter with your kids.
Embrace it...They are only this little once.
Use a baking tray or plastic tub to catch falling glitter.
This will make cleaning up a whole lot easier.
Once your pumpkin faces have been glittered, let them dry for a few hours.
Add a stem.
Then hang up in your house. We have ours in our living room, hanging from the ceiling. We also hung some on our gate outside. Now pumpkins faces will greet all our visitors this month.
I hope you get a chance to make something fun with your littles this month.
Have a wonderful day!
Cute....I love paper plates. We did something similiar last year and painted witches, pumpkins, ghosts, etc. It's always fun just letting the kids go with it...they really get into it.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree...why are people so afraid of glitter???
Cause glitter gets everywhere! But we use it too. :) I like this idea, cute.
ReplyDeleteI love the addition of the glitter. We just made paper plates pumpkins but we used paint. http://www.messforless.net/2011/10/paper-plate-pumpkin-patch.html
ReplyDeleteI wonder if we can paint more and use your glitter idea since we don't have orange plates around?
