Did you know that this year, over 13 million American kids will be bullied, making it the most common form of violence young people in the U.S. experience?I recently learned of these numbers and have never felt so sick in my life. To think that we send our children everyday to a place, where hatred and violence is found, is very disheartening. Now I am a homeschooler, so this problem does not directly effect my children, but I have nieces and nephews who go to public school and I pray for their safety everyday. We should be sending our children to a safe place, where they can learn and grow. This is not always the case for many children, throughout the USA.

I actually have a good friend, who just pulled her daughter out of public school. She had to quit her job and begin to homeschool, because her daughter was being bullied. It got to the point where poor Abbey was to sit in the back, because she was considered a "disruption" to the class. Instead of dealing with the bullying and disruptions other children made, Abbey was put in the back so she would stop reminding people to sit down and pay attention. It greatly bothers me that a poor child would be punished for following the rules. Really what are our schools coming to? This is totally unacceptable. I couldn't believe that in First Grade, the bullying has already reared its ugly head.

Everyday children are being bullied. From kindergartners to high school aged children. The hatred begins when they are little and continues to build as they grow. I am sure all of us can remember being bullied at some point in our academic careers. Do we want that for our children? Do we want them to feel that loneliness or insecurity? I know I don't.

There is a new movie coming out, which documents this ugliness.

It is titled "BULLY" and will be "following five kids and families over the course of a school year, the film confronts bullying’s most tragic outcomes, including the stories of two families who’ve lost children to suicide and a mother who waits to learn the fate of her 14 –year-old daughter, incarcerated after bringing a gun on her school bus. With rare access to the Sioux City Community School District, the film also gives an intimate glimpse into school busses, classrooms, cafeterias and even principles offices, offering insight into the often-cruel world of children, as teachers, administrators and parents struggle to find answers"

There is a new movement beginning to help educate and bring awareness to this epidemic. The more we share about this problem, affecting our children, the better we can be at stopping this problem. Start in your home. Tell your children what bullying is. Make sure they are not being bullies themselves. If they are being bullied, let them know they are not alone and can find help.

I think that is what this documentary is all about. It is a way to educate Americans and let us know exactly what our children are being faced with.

I pray that we can all join The Bully Project and bring a stop to this ugliness.
Let's make our schools a safe place for our littles. A place where knowledge and love can grow. Join the fight against Bullying!
