So it is official. I am not on a diet. Something about that word makes me cringe. Literally cringe folks. I hear it and I get the hebejebes. It may be the fact that as a child, I tried out one diet after another with my mother, or the fact that in high school I got a little too into dieting, if you know what I mean. I feel like calling it a diet, just sets you up to either fail, or take it to the extreme. Because of that I am not on a diet. I am however, trying to eat healthy. This week has been week one on my journey to healthy living.
I like to think of myself as a healthy eater. I try to eat my fruits and veggies and everything, but lately I have been loving the carbs and candy a little to much. I am a curvy mamma and I love that. I love that I have curves and by no means do I want to slim down to a stick, nor would The Hubbs want me to. He loves the curves too. I just think that lately my curves are getting a little to curvy. I have been inspired by some of my bloggy friends. Cassidy is a blog friend and a real life friend. Her workouts have inspired me. She is a busy Mama, who works out at home. I love it! I don't have time or the money to go to the gym, nor do I have the time to spend hours at home working out. I am a Mom. I am busy, just like I know all of us are. All last week I just did 15 minutes a day of excising. I put on my ear phones, blasted the glee music, and got to working out. From squats to abs I did 15 minutes non stop. It worked! I actually felt better this week. 15 minutes was something I could actually do. I was sore, but felt energized.
I am kicking sugar, which has been not to bad considering all the Easter goodies around my house. No slip ups this week. I want to be healthy and be a good example to those red heads of mine. I know when I eat healthier, they do as well. Smoothies are in our constant near future and family walks of course.
I am excited to share my journey, as I get healthy, kick the sugar, and strengthen and tone. I am taking it a day at a time. Somehow this year has changed me. Deciding to go homemade has made me want to be better in all areas of my life. Being healthier is just one of them. So join me on my journey of being a blogger Not on a diet. I am hoping to share some tips and tricks I use, while still being a busy wife and mother.
Oh and here is me ready to shed these extra curves
no makeup and all
and of course my before.
Want to join in the shedding of the pounds and eating healthy?
I'd loved to have you. We can encourage one another.

I'm with you. I can feel all the Easter chocolate hitting my legs. so I'm gonna stop sitting in front of the computer and get up and do something!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to join you. My curves have turned into plateaus. Ug. Anyway, I think we need a button :) I'll work out if you will!! Keep me posted!
ReplyDeleteYay! I am excited to follow your journey. I am (not) starting a diet this week too :)
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am not a mom, but never have enough time. So I have started Jillian Michaels' 30 days shred. If you are looking for new workouts I recommend you her DVD. It is just 20 minutes per day, but every day have to do it. (I am on the 9th day.) It is kinda good program, really intensive (if you put energy into it).
ReplyDeleteWish you a good luck, Danielle!
Have a lovely week,
Hanni
Okay, that's it! I will go to zumba class this afternoon after all. I too need to shed some pounds. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea girl! I'm right there with ya! 3 babies in 4 years has me not able to recognize my body in the mirror... My hubs was awesome and got my a gym membership... but my prob is 3 little people who don't sleep at night so I have a horrible habit of hitting snooze when I'm supposed to be getting up and hitting the gym! Thanks for the inspiration! I'll be right here to cheer you on!
ReplyDeleteI am actually going through the certification to be a personal trainer right now. If you have questions, I can help you! I get so excited when people start talking fitness, etc. because it's one of my favorite things. I think you are spot on when you say you aren't going on a "diet." Those fad diets are pointless, they make you eat way too few calories and they are designed for you to see fast (but not good) results. Losing too much at the start means a loss in water, and/or muscle (far worse.) The safest you should lose is 1/2 to 1lb a week. I definitely remember the stuff your Mom has been through diet wise and none of them were healthy. If you need help figuring out an idea of how many calories you should be eating, I can figure it out for you if you want. Just give me an idea of how tall you are and how much you weigh. Then give me a goal weight (a healthy goal weight, but it seems you already know that which is great) and we can talk more next Monday. You help me with my sewing and I am so grateful! This can be my way to pay it forward! And don't worry, I'm not into any crazy-kill-yourself type exercise routines. Those never work unless you're Jillian Michaels and like that sort of thing ;-)
ReplyDeleteI also started tracking my weight loss and put a link to your weight loss on my blog!
ReplyDeleteGood for YOU!!!! I am trying to shed a few pounds myself. Not totally cutting out the sugar....that would not be normal for me. BUT I can eat LOTS less and limit what I eat. I will join you!! Not sure I am ready to share on my blog, but I will be keeping up with you and watching for tips!! Thanks for the invite to join in getting healthy!!
ReplyDeleteI started walking and dieting last week...I have got to get these extra many many pounds off! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I'm with you. I've still got extra weight from my 9 month old & I'd love to get it off. Thanks for posting this it's good motivation and inspiring! I hope you have another good week this week!
ReplyDelete-Kayla :)
I loved your post! Just like you, I've been trying to eat healthy, not diet, since Christmas, and it's worked, I'm about three quarters of the way to my goal weight, but more importantly, I feel so much better and have more energy! Good luck to you!!!! I'm your newest follower! :o)
ReplyDeleteI'll join in with you and Cameron! I have all my baby weight to loose still (2 kids and 3 years later). I've been walking on lunch at work and eating a little more thoughtfully. I just love food too much to actually diet.
ReplyDeleteI love your button idea Cameron.
We have a very similar out look on "diets". I have been making healthy changes, one at a time to make them stick for good!
ReplyDeleteI'll be rooting for you!
I'll join you! I'm trying, well sort of half-heartedly, I need this boost to get me going again.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you! I've been working on this for over a year...40 lbs. lost and still have more to go. Today, I have my last personal training session I received as a Christmas gift and then I'm on my own...well, with all of you guys!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI've started and stopped and started again - back and forth. I just can't seem to stick with a plan to drop a few pounds. Having a baking blog doesn't help much either... I'd be with ya! Sign me up!
ReplyDeleteI am with you, when I say Diet, I gain weight:( I am joining you on your journey.
ReplyDeleteI am with you, girl! I am trying to stay away from sweets and lowering my sodium for starters. I hate the word diet, too....it is def a set up for failure!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck on your un-diet.:) I am afraid sugar is one of my huge downfalls. We don't keep a lot in the house, but I definitely like some dessert at night before I go to bed.:) I guess the good news is I love to get out and run several times a week, so I tell myself it balances out, right?:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Danielle for the shoutout! I love LOVE hearing that you are not on a diet! Yes we need to get rid of that word! It is a lifestyle, you are learning to eat balanced and healthy for the rest of your life. I am never for cutting anything out of your diet you just need to learn to portion it. Cutting out complete food groups is not realistic for anyones life. Unless there is a serious health condition that causes problems eating that food. I am inspired by you and by others who go through this journey as it is a tough one and I admire the dedication. I seriously wished I had more time to blog cuz there is SO much more I could share on my fitness and knowledge as I continually keep my certification current and do alot to help others often. K so I am planning to put up another workout this week and I will continue to share the foods that I eat. Girl you know I got you covered for whatever questions or support you will need during this process. Also let me tell you how happy it makes me to hear that you just want a healthy realistic shape. Not everyone is built the same and not everyone has the same body type and and built to be a size 2! I WOULD LOVE to feature you when you reach your goal and I know that you will!
ReplyDeletePS I haven't had a chance to check out that tutorial yet but I will and if I have questions I know how awesome you are on helping me out! :)
XOXO-Cassidy

That extra weight likes to sneak up on a person. I like the fact that you are not on a diet. I think that when you want to lose weight you have think that the changes you make are forever and not just for the time you are trying to lose the weight.
ReplyDeleteI am so with you on this! I think the word "diet" is one of the most awful, and sad, words out there. Although I think it is important to eat healthy, I also think that life is meant to be lived and enjoyed, and food is very much a part of living (at least for me). Love this post :)
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a great week!

Danielle, for my birthday (april 12) my husband got me a gym membership. He was worried it was either the "best gift ever" or it would live in infamy as the "you think I am fat" gift. Thankfully, I see this as a great oppertunity! We took our before shots on the same day. I am with you girl! Let's get fit!
ReplyDeleteI love your post and your honesty :) if you have a minute to link up, please come visit my blog!

This is awesome, I hate diets too I have never been good at it. I like the eating healthy concept and learning how to make a lifestyle change. I have counted calories but I do not consider that a diet because I am still eating the things that I like just in moderation. But even with that I cannot do it for too long.
