Happy Monday All! I am ready for another fantastic Homemade Monday!
Before I get started I have to give a BIG Happy Birthday wish to my little Chickadee here.
This past weekend was full of Birthday cake and fun. Today is her actual birthday, which will be full of pink cupcakes, noodles and rolls for dinner (her pick), and of course pink unicorns (this is what she asked for from mom and dad). I love this munchkin more than anything. She drives me crazy, but who can't love a girl who has her own sense of style and knows she rocks! Now if only I had that confidence.
Happy Birthday Miss Priss. I LOVE you!
Now onto our Homemade Monday post for today........
Here is the post that was suppose to be for last week.
I hope all the revamping your blog tips
last week were helpful.
I am still working on some more...don't worry I promise to have a new one this week :)

Alright ladies and gents. Part of My Homemade Year is to use up all those scraps I have piling up in my closet. I am fearing that they may take it over soon, so I have been putting my scrap sewing to good use lately. I recently checked out Fabric Scrapping from the library.
Side note.....
the library is great for cheap inspiration. I get sewing books from there all the time. Check them out as much as you want and they are FREE! Say what!
Oh yes I love it!
Any who I checked out Fabric Scrapping and found THE CUTEST little pattern in there. It was for what I lovingly call a Cutsie Horse. Who doesn't want a cute little horse hanging in their room? I know right! They serve no purpose, but are just darling! I knew I wanted to make some for Miss Priss and hey I am not going to lie....I want to make some to hang in my room too. They are just too darling!
I traced the pattern that was in the book onto computer paper and cut it out.
I then dug into my never ending pile of scraps. I went with some red polka dots and blue gingham. They totally do not go with Miss priss's pink room, but the fabric called to me nonetheless.
Pin the pattern to the fabric and cut out.
Put right sides of fabric together and sew around..
be sure to leave an opening to right side it out and to stuff with filling.
Now here is my tip for finding filling. I rarely ever buy it. I am way too cheap for that.
I use old pillows that we are not using anymore. You know when they get grouse and are no longer comfy for you to sleep on. Yep I use those and my mother loving gives me hers when she is through as well. I love taking donations from family.
It totally makes my day!
Once the horses were stuffed and sewn shut I had a brilliant idea to add a tail and eye. Well I should have added this before hand, but since the inspiration came too late I just hot glued the tail and eye and hand-stitched the lacey mane. I think it realy adds something extra to the horses.
I hot glued them to ribbon and hung them on my little Miss's mirror. They are adorably cute in her princess room.
Oh how I love little stuffees. Now I seriously need to make some for my room.
Hopefully the hubbs won't mind little animals hanging from our mirror:)
We shall see about that one..
Anywho I hope you guys get a chance to sew and craft this week and
use up some of those scraps...
Oh and if you're wondering.......
I save all scraps the size of my hand.
They can be used for hair bows, fabric flowers, accents to pillows, shirts, etc
The ideas are endless.
I store them in grocery bags and a box in my closet
Here are a few other scrap projects I have seen in the Feature Friday Linky party and on Pinterest.
Have a wonderful Monday!
Oh and I am always looking for great guest bloggers.
If you have a project to share send me an e-mail I would LOVE to have you.
Also I have had some people tell me they weren't sure about being a guest because they are new to blogging or don't have a lot of followers.
I don't care about that!
I love helping support fellow bloggers!
So send me an e-mail and lets become bloggy friends and do a blog swap or something.

ReplyDeleteI just found your blog and am loving it. I am new to blogging and the whole blog world. I love to make things and I love to save money. I think we might have a lot in common! One thing I do with my fabric scraps is make double sided cloth napkins. We use them as napkins, but also as sandwich wrappers! I love using up all the odds and ends of fabric. I'm going to check out that book, it looks fun!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous little horses! I do the same with stuffing from old pillows!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat selection of other fabric scrap projects you found on pinterest too!
Thanks for linking to a Round Tuit!
Hope you have a fabulous week!
