Hi there!  I'm so excited to be a part of all this Christmas fun!  I'm going to share a tutorial for a fun handmade gift for the little chef in you life.  It's a quick and easy project that the kids will love.  :)

Supplies Needed:

Two 7 inch x 12 inch fabric pieces
One 24 inch x 4 inch Ruffle piece
One 44 inch x 5 inch piece for the strap
Coordinating Thread
Sewing Machine
Iron

*I made this size for my two year old.

Grab your ruffle piece and fold in half lengthwise and pin.
Photobucket

Set your machine to it's largest straight stitch.
Photobucket

Sew a straight line on the side with the raw edge. Don't backstitch.  Pull the thread so your fabric ruffles up.
Photobucket

Ruffle it up until it fits just inside your 7 x 12 piece.
Photobucket

Tuck the raw edges in and sew shut.
Photobucket

Lay out one of your 7 x 12 pieces with the right side facing up.  Place your ruffle on top with the raw edge down and pin.  Let your ruffle's raw edge hang over a bit.
Photobucket

Now sew a straight stitch directly above your previous stitch.  I tried to use dark thread.  I hope you can see it.  :)
Photobucket

Grab your remaining 7 x 12 piece and place directly on top with the right sides facing each other and pin.
Photobucket

Tuck the edge of your ruffle in so you don't sew over it.  Sew the sides and the bottom.  Leave the top open for turning.
Photobucket

Turn the apron right side out and iron.
Photobucket

Now grab your strap piece and your iron.  Fold the ends to a point as shown below and iron.  (Do this on both ends)
Photobucket

Now fold the raw edges in a bit and iron.  You'll do this for the entire strap.
Photobucket

Next, fold your strap in half lengthwise and iron.  The edges need to line up perfectly.  All the raw edges should be tucked in.
Photobucket

Open your strap and place your apron inside.  Make sure it's right in the middle.
Photobucket

 Pin the entire strap closed.
Photobucket

Sew it shut and your done!

Last year I made an apron for my little giggler and gave it to her on Christmas Eve.  She was so excited to help bake the cookies.  It was so much fun!  I hope everyone has a Merry Christmas!
