Morning By Morning Productions: Rosette Clips

 Hi Ya'll! I hope that you are all having a fabulous Wednesday and are looking forward to some more Hair tips and accessories. Today we have Abby from Morning by Morning Productions. Abby has a super cute blog about sewing and crafts. She does quilting, sewing, baking, pretty much everything domestic, which is why I love her blog. Today she is showing us how to make Rosette Clips and Headbands.

     First off, thanks so much Danielle, for asking me to help out with hair week! I think its such a fun idea!  I know I can always use a boost in the hair department! With summer starting up, I like to think of fun ways to keep my hair up and out of my face. One of my favorite ways is rosette clips made from old t-shirts.

  
      A glue gun and a pair of scissors are the only things you need to operate to make these super fun hair rosettes, no sewing skills needed! You will also need some felt, hair clips, and a t-shirt. (super sorry for the not so clear pictures...my old camera doesn't like taking pictures of small things up close!)
     Start by cutting a circle of felt about the size you want your finished hair clip to be. It doesn't need to be exact, you'll trim it later.

     Cut a few strips from your t-shirt. The wider and longer you do them, the fatter the rosette will be and vice versa. Knot the very end.

      Twist the strip and wind around the knot holding it tight with your finger.

  
Squirt some hot glue on your felt and lay the rosette on it. Be careful! I have a wonderful habit of giving myself blisters while doing this!

    

I like to do a cluster of two or three on one clip.

 
You'll need to trim the felt so you don't see it after your rosettes done. Glue a hair clip to the back. I like to let the glue cool to almost tacky before sticking the clip on. I hold it open until it's finished cooling, then clip it on something till it hardens.

    
To do a two colored one, just knot two strips together and twist it up like a candy cane.

   

I tried a twisting it looser for a different look.

    

I like to mix and match them when I wear them. This is two clips together but, if you over lap them slightly in your hair it looks like one flower cluster.

    

Snip off the hem off the bottom or sleeve of your shirt and make a headband!

Just glue the ends together after you size it to fit your head.

   

Slip it into your hair and then clip a rosette to it. The clip will keep it from sliding out and the comfy jersey won't give you a headache like a lot of headbands do.

    
You can even do a tiny version with some soft stretch lace for the little ladies in your life. Just use felt on the back of the lace so the glue doesn't sratch little heads.

    

Next time you are about to trash that old t-shirt, give a rosette a try instead!
