Service Baby Shower

I serve on the Relief Society board, in my ward, and last week I had a great opportunity to get know a new sister in the ward. Her name is April and she is by far the sweetest woman ever. I had the opportunity to throw her a baby shower. It was such a neat experience getting to know this wonderful woman. April and her husband are seriously the sweetest people ever. They have a new little boy on the way (making his depute this upcoming week). We did the baby shower as a service project. The mother to be didn't have much in the baby item department, so the ladies in the ward came together to laugh and share. This was a different type of baby shower. In our ward we decided to do a "service" baby shower. We asked people to donate any baby boy items they had, that would be of use to this new little guy. It was amazing to see the woman come together. Even those who couldn't be at the actually shower, dropped by to leave baby items. April ended up  with a lot of fun things for her little. She is now set up with a crib, baby bath, bassinet, diapers, clothes, burb clothes, baby toys etc. Pretty much everything she needs. I am so thankful to the wonderful sisters in my ward who are so willing to serve, especially at a time of year when things are hectic and busy.

For those who were able to make it to the shower, we had a lot of fun talking and laughing. We played a few baby shower games and had some baby blue decorations set up. Most of the decorations were donated by a lady in our ward. Thank you so much Sister Compose! These decorations made the party.

Here is what I did with the decorations that were donated.

I filled the little gift boxes with butter mints (oh they are so yummy!)
I took small glass juice jars and put flower pens in them, to make a bouquet. I circled the little glass with crinkle raffia (is that what the blue stuff is called?) These centrepieces for the table turned out so cute. Topped with a ducky to up the cuteness factor and viola beautiful inexpensive centrepieces for our tables.

In the front of the room I added a onesie clothes line. This was one of my gifts to April. I purchased the onsies, but I already had the yarn and the clothes pins. I basically used what I had around my house. I brought out my willow tree statues, I used a vase with sticks in it for a mommy advice tree, and the tablecloth was already on the table in the relief society room.

Thank you again to all those who came and donated items or made things. I know that April and her hubby are thankful for all the kindness that has been shown to them, since joining our ward. I am thankful for the wonderful woman in my ward. The Vegas Manor ward is by far my favoritest ward I have been in. I have never felt so at home before, with woman I just meet this summer. I can honestly say I love them all and would do anything for them. The Relief Society in this ward in just awesome and I am thankful to be apart of it.
