Service: 12 Days of Christmas

Jesus Christ Pictures, Images and Photos

Can you believe it?!?! Only 12 more days till Christmas. Man this month is flying by like crazy. Well now that Christmas is coming so close and the birth of our Savior is to be celebrated, My family is starting something new this week. This is something I have wanted to do for the past few years, but have never planned out enough to actually accomplish it. This year I was determined.

I decided to have my littles do the 12 days of Christmas for a child in their primary class at church. I prayed about who the child should be and one day during sacrament it came to me. I knew exactly who my littles should do this service for. Now the point of the 12 days of Christmas is meant to be a time when we can serve. I wanted Miss Priss and bubba to remember that talking about serving Jesus Christ and actually doing it are two different things. We must put our words into action. This month is a time to celebrate the most important birth in the world. We are all important to God's Plan, but the Saviors birth was one that literally changed the world. His life and all the he did shapes who we are today. Because of his kindess and sacrifice, I can return home to my Heavenly Father and be forgiven of my sins. Now this is something we have been working on all month with Miss Priss and Bubba. Now onto our 12 days of Christmas. I want to share what we do, so I can refer back to this next year.

We are starting today and each day up until Christmas Eve we will be delivering goodies for this young girl. I am excited because my friend Allison and her littles are going to join us in the servcie as well.

For Day one we are going to be delivering a Christmas tree with some tree decorations. I believe every child should get to experience the magic of Christmas and a tree is definitely part of it. Last night we talked to Miss Priss and Bubba about how not every child tree gets to have a Christmas tree and how we wanted to make sure this little girl (we will call her M) gets to. They are very excited for M to have a Christmas tree and can't wait to start this servcie project.

I will be trying to post the different things we do each day. Here is a rundown though of everything Allison and I have planned for this sweet little girl.

December 13- Deliver Christmas tree and tree decorations..introduce ourselves.
December 14- Deliver Stockings and ornaments made by the kids
December 15- Sugar cookie decorating kit & Santa Decoration
December 16- Deliver Christmas Story & Picture of Christ
December 17- Movie Night and popcorn treat
December 18- Warm and Cosy night- deliver mittens, hat and hot cocoa

December 20- Family Home Evening Lesson on nativity with treat
December 21- Deliver gingerbread house kits
December 22- Go Carolling and give a treat
December 23- Delivery Christmas PJ's
December 24- Delivery Christmas gifts

So there is the run-down. It should turn out to be a very wonderful next two weeks. I am thankful for this opportunity to serve and to be able to do it with my littles and a good friend. I know this will be something my children will not forget and it will have amazing teaching opportunities for us. Hope you all have opportunities to serve others this month because "Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me" Mat 25:40.

Have a Blessed Day!
