Christmas ABC's: A is for Angel

Yesterday was our kick off to our Christmas ABC's. We did the letter A. Before we started school my littles were wild. It was like they had taken energy pills or something. They were having a hard time sitting through our reading lesson, but something amazing happened once we started talking about our Christmas book for the day.
We read God Gave Us Christmas (God Gave Us...) . This book is seriously my all time favorite Christmas book now. It was amazing the quietness that took over my children, as I read the words on each page. This book is about a little baby polar bear and his mom. They go out into nature to find God. This book does an amazing job at explaining to kids the importance of celebrating Christ's birthday day. Through reading this book, I was able to really focus with my little ones how Christmas really is a gift that God has given us. He has given us this amazing day and season to remember our savior. It enables us to really realize how the birth of a little baby in a manager really did change the world. This book even touches on Santa and how he teaches us generosity, but he is not the reason for the season. My children seemed to finally have that distinction click in their head.

I love doing traditional "Santa" Christmas things because they are fun, but I never want us to lose sight of the real reason we celebrate this time of year. I strongly recommend this book to any mom out there wanting to teach her littles this. I think this book will need to find a place in our own book library.

Anyways after we read the book and talked about he angel Gabrielle we made this paper plate Angel craft. Our kick off to our Christmas ABC's was awesome! I can't wait for today. We are doing the letter B for Bells. It should be fun. I will post our activities tomorrow

And the picture below has nothing to do with Christmas, but we are doing spiders for science and these pictures of my littles are just to adorable not to share

We read The Itsy Bitsy Spider and made this spooky spider with his own silk.

Have a Blessed Day!
