Here is something I made for us to use this next month in school. I painted a tree onto a poster board and then on construction paper I cut out circles with the letters on them. (I do plan to laminate them and put magnets on the back so they last longer) You put the round circles on the tree and then for example you can ask the children "Can you find the letter that makes the sound ssss" and then they shine the flash light on the letter S. Miss Priss and Bubba loved this. I also plan to do this for math when we learn addition. I have made cards that say "1+1=" and then the answer would be on the tree. I got this idea from The Mailbox magazine. I checked one out from the library. These are full of such great ideas for teaching!
