Remember last week I told you that I was throwing a Baby Shower for my sisinlaw? Well I wanted to share some of the pictures from the party and maybe a few party saving tips as well.
Here is how we threw a party on a budget:
My Sisinlaw, Andrea, is expecting her third child and didn't really want a BIG shower. She wanted something low key and just fun. She basically wanted a girls lunch, which is what we gave her. We ended up having all our kids with us. We decided to let all the Dad's go shooting at the gun range. Lets just say we are all THE BEST WIVES right now. When my hubby heard he didn't have to be on kid duty during the shower, he was more than excited. Then when I told him he would be shooting while we did the shower, well let's just say I have received THE BEST WIFEY award.
A whole day with his brothers and guns. He was in heaven:)
Anyways because of the littles being at the shower, we wanted food that would be kid friendly as well.
We had uncrustable sandwiches, BLT sandwiches, Potato salad, deviled eggs, Broccoli Salad, punch,
cupcakes, and cream puffs. Everything was homemade (minus the uncrustables), which saved a TON of money. My sisinlaw and I just divided what we would make.
For the Decor I just used what I had. I painted old vases and added some flowers I found at Wal-Mart, in their floral craft section. The "Celebrate" banner I made from scrapbook paper.
I actually only spent maybe $20 on the whole shower. That $20 went to paper plates, napkins, 1 pink table cloth, 2 bunches of pink flowers, 1 bag of Wilson Bakers Chocolate (for the cupcakes). I used my Love Note Plate for decor also. I just wrote "Girl" with pink chalk. I think that using what you have is always the best. I love decorating because it makes me think outside the box. It is always such a fun challenge. I think the party was a hit. From the food to the decor to the awesome company. It was a fun afternoon with my sisters and I loved it.
Hope these tips will help you out when throw your next party. Remember my motto is always shop your house first and then go to the store, if you must. But only if you MUST. I usually don't have too.
Here are a few more cute picture from the shower.
My camera died pretty soon after this, so I didn't get many pictures.
