Themes: All About me

Our theme for the past 2 weeks has been "All About me". We have been reading a lot of books about our bodies & the five senses. Here is a list of some of the books we have been reading and some of the activities we have done to go along with the them:
The Eye Book (Bright & Early Books(R))
The Foot Book
Arthur's Nose : 25th Anniversary Limited Edition
From Head to Toe Big Book
Ears Are for Hearing (Let's Read and Find Out Science Book)

Some Activities we have done have come from:
The Complete Daily Curriculum for Early Childhood: Over 1200 Easy Activities to Support Multiple Intelligences and Learning Styles

-We made Life Size drawings of ourselves
I had them each lay down on butcher paper I purchased from Learning is Fun and then I traced their outline.
They then colored their drawings. Miss Priss and Bubba were nice enough to help each other with their portraits.
-We have a huge mirror that is in our kitchen/eating area/school area. We decided to hang their life size portraits up there. Miss Priss likes to say goodnight to her paper self. Oh how I love little ones and their silliness/cuteness :>

-We also walked through the house with a blindfold on to see how we could use our other senses if we were blind. The kids thought this was fun.

-We played body bingo. I got the bingo cards from  Nursery Time Volume 1. I would think this one would have similar games as well.
Nursery Time! Volume 3 (Family Finch Games)

-We looked at our hands through a magnify glass and did this worksheet

Right now that is all I can remember, but overall we had fun doing this unit and are now moving onto Mexico. We have plans to make fried tortillas, do some fun craft projects, fill a pinata for our end of the week Mexican Fiesta. (We are doing this with some friends and family to celebrate Mexico's Independence Day celebration on the 16th) This should prove to be a fun week. I will post pictures next week :> Hope you have a fabulous day!
