Martin Luther King Activity

I meant to post this before MLK Day in case anyone wanted to do it with their littles, but I have been quite behind in blogging I still have the holidays left to blog, but have been putting it off. I will get caught up I promise. Anwyays we had our Preschool play date with Holly and Carter at our house. We read about Martin Luther King from What Your Preschooler Needs to Know: Get Ready for Kindergarten (Core Knowledge)and then we did the craft below. I can't remember where I saw this on the web, but it is not my original idea. The poem I found on the web and then I had the kids do their hand prints in different colors on card stock that already had the poem printed on it. I think it turned out very nicely and I think the poem would also be appropriate if you were doing a unit on colors.
Wouldn't it be terrible? Wouldn't it be sad?
If just one single color was the color that we had?
If everything was purple? Or red? Or blue? Or green?
If yellow, pink, or orange was all that could be seen?
Can you just imagine how dull the world would be
If just one single color was all that we could see?
